Caraway Seed, Black

Also known as Charnuska, Black Caraway Seed is smaller than traditional Caraway with a more intense flavor. One of the oldest culinary spices, black caraway was used as far back as ancient Egypt.

Warm and sweet, the black seeds taste like a combination of onions, black pepper and oregano with a slightly peppery aroma. The seeds are used as a spice in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisines. Black caraway is often used in naan bread and New York style Jewish rye bread. It can be used as a "pepper" on vegetables, salads and poultry.
