Classic Earl Grey tea is a very aromatic black tea blend, originally made with Chinese black tea and oil of bergamot. Bergamot is a citrus fruit from a rather obscure branch of the orange family that grows around the Mediterranean. Because Bergamot is very bitter, it is rarely eaten fresh, but adds a wonderful aroma and citrus tang when added to tea.
