Native to the Mediterranean, oregano which means "joy of the mountain" has been in use since ancient Rome. Oregano is aromatic, strong and sweet with a pleasant bitter undertone.
Oregano goes very well with tomatoes and can be added to any tomato dish. Season pasta sauces, tomato juice, pizza, chili con carne, barbecue sauce and vegetable soup. Use on baked chicken, pork and fish. Flavor egg and cheese dishes, salad dressings, seafood salads and stuffing for meat or poultry.
